Notes
This is not a trivial build to copy. The playstyle is also extremely focus intensive, and mistakes are punished with swift death. The key tech for this build gives it 15k life recovery per second, even outside of combat situations, allowing it to sustain a fast casting reap even with Rathpith Globe. Core mechanic The core mechanic of the build revolves around maintaining 100% uptime of Wellwater Phylactery, a new flask that starts energy shield recharge when used and prevents recharge from being interrupted while the flask effect is active. Maintaining 100% uptime requires quite a bit of investment. In this build, we take: 1. Mana flask generation and increased flask charges gained on the tree (also via Impossible Escape) 2. The Traitor keystone with 2 empty flasks 3. A medium cluster jewel with flask duration nodes to maximize flask effect duration With good rolls on Wellwater Phylactery, this results in a flask that lasts around 3.6 seconds. Unfortunately, sustaining a single flask is too hard, so we have to alternate between using two different flasks, using one every 3 seconds or so. If your flask duration is shorter than 3 seconds, you will not be able to have 100% uptime alternating two flasks because a large portion of your flask regeneration occurs in discrete 3s ticks. The second part of maintaining 100% uptime for Wellwater requires preventing its effect from ending via reaching full mana. We accomplish this by using The Agnostic combined with some increased maximum mana on the tree and gear. By reserving a small portion of our life via Arrogance - Precision, we ensure that Agnostic constantly drains our mana. We further increase this drain by stacking reduced mana regeneration on our rings. With a low enough roll on Wellwater's "Increased Amount Recovered" stat, our passive mana degeneration is higher than the mana recovered per second via Wellwater. If you copy this build, you must check that this is the case yourself, especially if you have worse rolled flasks. The mana recovery of Wellwater is further reduced by using Runegraft of the Quaffing on a mastery node. This is the core engine of the build. To know whether you've set this up properly, you should be able to use Wellwater in hideout without seeing your mana increase at all. You may need to take the small "% increased life and mana" node by Witch, or craft mana on your weapon to get enough degen. Things to watch out for There are a few further things that you need to watch out for that can brick this setup: Regeneration shrine: if you do not have enough reduced mana regeneration, the powerful mana regen effect you get from this shrine can upset the balance between your degen and flask mana recovery. To be able to take regeneration shrines, check the PoB calcs tab to ensure your mana regeneration "increased/reduced" is negative, as this will make you have 0 mana regen even with this shrine. Lag spikes: unlike utility flasks that can be enchanted with effects that guarantee 100% uptime, mana flasks must be manually pressed to obtain uptime. Pressing a flask during a lag spike or stutter will sometimes not use that flask, which can kill you if you don't realize what has happened. Levelling up: levelling up has the fun side effect of restoring your mana to full and cancelling any currently active mana flasks. If I am spamming reap as I level up, I will more often than not kill myself. Rationale for other parts of the build Blightwell is the highest source of energy shield recharge rate in the game. Since we are already maintaining 100% flask uptime, we always get its 200+% energy shield recharge rate bonus. Because this unique is rarely used, you can obtain crazy double corruptions for this amulet (I recommend always getting +1 curse) for a reasonable price. In this build, I use a weapon swap to swap between the clear speed and bossing setups for this build. The Dark Seer is used during bossing for higher damage and tankiness. You can pick between Herald of Purity, Arctic Armour, or Flesh and Stone during bossing. I also use normal Righteous Fire during bossing for higher damage. For clear, I use a 1h explode based weapon. These can be made in under 10 div if you do not buy a base that can roll native caster mods. Use essence of misery on the base until you hit your desired tier of crit multiplier, then craft an extra mod of your choice on top. Herald of Ash is recommended for clear to increase explosion damage and provide a secondary "explosion" effect. We also use Righteous Fire of Arcane Devotion for smoother casting and faster movement via Frostblink of Wintry Blast. Since we need to keep 2 flasks empty and are already using two mana flasks, the Namelesss bloodline with +1 ring is a great bloodline choice, allowing us to use another mirrored ring for a big life and cast speed boost. As our last flask, Doedre's Elixir can be used to maintain 100% charge uptime - just be sure to get one with a decently low number of charges used.
