1. Physical mitigation is a problem (we have 6%) so aganist melee hits our evade chance is our defense
2. Not a map clear beast
3. Mana is a problem -> Need to use mana flask and later mana reduction/ regen everywhere where you can
4. Visual clarity is really bad because of the explosions
5. Gem swapping for hard bosses


Explosive Trap of Shrapnel

This patch they buffed the gem damage for exchange they lowered the area of effect of the explosions. Which result less overlaps from the explosions. That means less damage than before. 
From my testing now the base explosive trap and explosive trap of shrapnel is almost the same damage wise if we talking about single target damage.
I think you will get better clear with shrapnel and you can kill map bosses with it but when you want to do ubers you need the basic explosive trap. Keep in mind this is my personal opinion.



Mana problems

You have a few options:

1. Mana flask you will use this for a long time i cant do anything about this. Keep in mind the mana flask still has the mana reduction mod. You "just" need to roll for it
2. You can get early Praxis unique ring for mana regen and mana cost reduction. I dont know the price at the first day.
3. Life tap to in your skill links. Because you leveling the vitality as the time goes on this could counter the life loss from the support gem
4. Life mastery 30% of the skill cost will take life instead of mana. With vitality this is not even noticeable
5. Tattoos are back so you can use your "useless" small nodes to get mana regen rate. This is a very underrated stat. You can also get this stat on ring and amulet as well!
6. Watcher eye with - mana cost mod and slot in level 1 clarity. This could be expensive if you want to get another usefull stat.
7. End game you have access - mana cost crafts that will help. Side note here: With Life catalyst you can get -8 mana cost instead -7. This could be very expensive! 





Leveling


Personally i'm using the explosive trap from the start and leveling with it. There are "better" ways to level this build but for its not enjoyable. 
Im liking to use my end game gems from the start if possible! I know this is slow and not effiecent but im having fun when i can use my skill that i choose not what i "need" to use.

If you want you can clear with lightning trap, stormblast mine + orb of storms combo, and use explosive trap on Act bosses. 




Ghost Dance

On the leveling tree you will take this one at the "maps" section but you can take this earlier if you have around 200-300 energy shield.
This will make you much TONKIER at the leveling while you maybe have 1000 life or a little bit more. You have a little bit freedom here.




Whispers of Doom

This is the extra curse node on the tree. I would take this around at maps or while mapping or if i feeling my damage falling of. So you can take this is one earlier as well. But i dont think its worth to sacrifice 
life nodes over this. So before you doing this try to get better weapon (see the weapon section)



Stun and chill,freeze immunity

Because we take one step ahead node you will be immune to this effects so you dont have to worry about this one. Even the temporal chain will have no effect on you.







Weapon Progression


Even in the first day (or even in the first few hours) of the league you can buy Axiom Perpetuum. The price is around 3 alchemy or 1 (2chaos maybe). This can carry you till Maps!
Keep your eye on rare weapons as well if you dont want or cant afford the Axiom Perpetuum. Aim +1 to fire or physical skill gem, spell damage, flat added elemental damage to spells.
Dont forget to use the crafting bech for spell damage or flat added elemental damage to spells if you find an rare item with open suffix or prefix.

Later if you are a GOD GAMER and getting lucky you can use Nycta's Lantern or just buy one. This should be very cheap as well around 5 chaos. This will carry you even on Red Maps
You will use this one till you get a crafted rare weapon.



This is how I'm doing the weapon progression:

1. Acts buy Axiom Perpetuum soon as possible 
2. Early maps Nycta's Lantern 
3. Start looking for rare weapons with good stats and open suffix for Trap Throwing speed craft
4. Crafting my endgame weapon.



Item and stat priority:


0. Cap your resistance and (on maps even in acts if possible) your suppression (if you have around 50-60% it should be fine in white or maybe even yellow maps but for red maps 100% suggested)
1. Good weapon (see the weapon progression)
2. A shield with Spell critical chance or +1 fire or physical to skill gems with high Life ------ Note here: You can't get +1 to spell skill gems on hybrid bases (energy shield+evasion) only spell crit.
3. Get energy shield and evasion bases because we will using Ghost dance keystone the more energy shield and evasion is the better.
4. Crystal belt with good stats. Mostly Life Attributes Resistance. Note here: On this base only strenght can be found by default. If you want Strenght or Intelligence need to use essences for it
5. 20%-30% movement speed on boots
6. Start getting luxury items (see the next topic)


Stat priority on weapon:

- Skill level increase Phys or fire or even all spell level works
- Critical strike multiplier
- Spell damage
- Fire damage to spells
- Trap throwing speed (this is crafted mod from bench)








"Luxury" items and your goals:

- Crafted end game weapon with +2 to level with use full stats
- Clusters
- Good whatcer eye
- Expensive triple stat jewels (life, crit multi, ele or fire crit mult)
- Awakened gems

Before you start crafting make sure you have the following bech crafts:
                                                                                                                - Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers (The Putrid Cloister unqiue map needed)
                                                                                                                - Cannot roll Attack Modifiers (Caer Blaidd, Wolfpack's Den)
                                                                                                                - Prefixes cannot be changed  (The Coward's Trial)





Sceptre

1. Get "+1 to all spell skill gems" isolated on a Rare sceptre. This can be done with alt rolling and then regal/annul. This could take many time :/
2. Craft "can have multiple crafted modifiers", "prefixes cannot be changed" and "cannot roll attack mods"
3. Use harvest  "add a physical modifier and remove a non-physical modifier". This should always add +1 to physical gems
4. If "prefixes cannot be changed" wasn't removed, skip to step 5. Else remove all crafted modifiers with crafting bench (there is an option for it) and craft "prefixes cannot be changed" again
5. Use the harvest modifier "add a critical modifier and remove a non-critical modifier". This will add spell crit or crit multi.
6. If you are got a good roll on the mod, remove all crafted modifiers with crafting bench. 
6.5  If you got a bad tier mod. Recraft prefixes cannot be changed, use a scour orb and go back to step 4.
7. Craft "Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers" and get: Trap throwing speed and Critical strike multi or spell crit depends what mod you got.


For rest of the gear like shield, amulet, rings, boots, gloves, helmet and belt. 

Try to get a good base with a good fractured mod and than use essences or fossils till you have what you want. Good mods like Life, Suppression or movement speed on the boots.
Before you trying to craft your gear check the market for it sometimes you will find cheap items than try to craft yourself.
