This is a Build Guide on how to build around BloodBarrier, a unique buckler that scales Corrupted Blood based on your life, but only on block/parry. This potentially limits your dps, BUT! you can refresh the cry with a parry, or a corrupting cry to maintain your damage, which makes it farm more reliable. This is a Lifestacker, put simply. We don't care about anything other than more flesh on our bones . We're not an unstoppable tank, we're more of a bloody parry-god, taking hits and countering with a beefy blow in return. This is a little more active than you would think You'll like this build if you like ignoring resistances, Seeing big life pools, and actually learning certain boss mechanics to optimize dps. Here's the TLDR for how this build works: Warbringer is our ascendancy as a comfort pick. you equip the shield and get turtle charm as soon as you can. You stack life and strength on all your gear, not worrying about res other than some chaos res. Veil of the Night gives us 50% of our life total. Get a Kaoms as soon as you can. In maps, use corrupting cry to clear and parry agains bosses. tap corrupting cry every 5 seconds to refresh the corrupted blood. Bam you're now at t15s and people are in awe of how girthy that life bar is. Here's some more detail for the True Knowledge seekers among us Bloodbarrier, as of recording this video, has the highest potential scaling for corrupted blood in the game. Corrupting Cry only take 25% of strength, with strength reaching about 1k. Our build currently has 7k life, with min-maxing potential reaching us 10k life. The "issue" in quotes is that it only applies on block. This is why we choose warbringer in particular. Turtle charm makes it so that all attacks can be blocked, meaning we don't have to worry about a specific boss not doing blockable attacks. WHICH IS A PROBLEM. there absolutely are bosses and enemies that don't have traditionally blockable attacks or slams, even with turtle charm. So, How do we scale life? There are not many options out there for life scaling, so our key uniques are the only real options. First, Veil of the Night. Veil of the Night is the highest life scaler in the game currently, with the VERY CONTROVERSAL downside of having your resistances set to zero. This will always remain a disadvantage in our build as something we worry about, but in the end. This shit doesn't hurt as bad as you'd think We have a lot of life which makes up for the damage reduction from attacks. Let me do the math. the Average life based build has 3k life and 75% resistances, making their effective hp like 12k. We're currently at 7k, which puts us at about what a normal build would have at 40% resistances. Point is it doesn't really hurt, unless it's a dot. Dots fucking hurt. avoid those Next. Kaom's Heart. 1k flat life, highest in the game. this is a no brainer grab early on. In endgame we grab a Defiance of destiny, as it's unique recovery option is huge for us and our large hemoglobin Lastly, a Hammer of Faith. We don't really use a weapon, and any other option would just be used for flat strength on the weapon. Hammer of faith has a bunch of nice shrine effects that we can utilize without much hassle. Then we just grab life, strength, chaos res, and regneration on as much gear as we can. This gear is much much cheaper than other gear because so many builds are dependent on resistance, but we're men of blood and bone. Passive Tree: Passive tree is very basic. We grab strength, block nodes to scale up our block and get damage for having block. some life, attribute scaling, and life regneration nodes. Nothing crazy. We do want grand spectrum rubys, but those are hella expensive and should be left to extended gear choices. Gameplay and Leveling: Leveling you want to do rake strength staking, equip all the gear listened asap, and then switch to corrupting cry at 3rd ascendancy. You should beline for Turtle charm, then corpse explode, then jade for extra health. Mapping consists of the following: spamming cry to get rid of trash and blow up corpses, occassionally leap slamming. Leap slam has consecrated ground from holy descent, which is good for increasing life regen in a pinch. When a rare shows up, pop all the trash around it to kill it, or parry it For bossing, You'll be relying on parry. I know some people say the parry sucks, but the truth is that they suck. get good. Hold it up when the boss does a parriable attack. Don't know what that is? too bad learn. A lot of bosses have easily readable attacks, that look like a it's try to flail its arm or equivalent apendage at you. When you can't parry, you apply corrupting cry to refresh cry duration. As long as you cry every 5 seconds, the duration of the cry and the damage will be maintained, meaning you have 100% damage uptime HORRAY. Final Thoughts: Farming ultimatum is good money for this build. Breach is a little slow on this one due to dot damage. Expedition is clean and easy. And the smaller boss oriented stuff is fairly easily. Overall, I'm happy with the build and it's ability to do t15 content. I don't have the time to farm up to arbiter, but I'd imagine it'd do alright as long as you don't be stupid and try to tank his pure fire slams. There are plenty of other build versions out there, so feel free to check them out! -Tusk
