FAQ Why Runic Ward? Easy to gear up defensively. Doesn't require much other than resistances on gear. Allows a Body prefixes to just be Double Life + Runic Ward, or Life + Spirit + Runic Ward if you wanted to fit in more meta skills. Allows Pasive Tree to be focused entirely on offense and utility, ad other defenses won't have much to scale from. Brass Dome? Simply put, The extra Ward is nice, but puts a lot of pressure on other slots for Resistances. Compared to a Rare Chest, you lose 200+ Life, any resists on it + the penalty from Brass Dome, and in turn you get about 600 extra Runic Ward. Rings can be adjusted to compensate for this, but it just makes perfect rings harder to get. Maligaro's Virtuosity? Trades Ward and Resistances for a fixed Crit Damage. This frees up Passive points allocated to Crit Damage, which we only have ~5 that are purely critical Damage. This allows us to get more Crit Chance and The downside is that with good gear, we can reach ~450%+ Crit Damage Bonus, which is a lot more than the 250% of the gloves. Loreweave? With it's buffs in 0.5.2, it's worth considering. It provides less Ward, but the Ring modifer have a lot of potential. Very RNG and the better options can be expensive. Gives decent Runic Ward, while not sacrificng much of it's base defenses. Doedre's Damning is great if you can land the Addtional Curse from it, Enabling a Temp Chains Blasphemy setup or removing the penalty of Wishpers of Doom by unallocating it. Ming's Heart for Gain as Extra Chaos Seed of Cataclysm has great modifiers for the build too Veilpiercer for bypassing Hexproof and free Hex Bloom, Dark Whispers will get you killed as the Life Loss ignores Runic Ward. Dream Fragments for immunity to Chill / Freeze Mageblood? If you really want to, you can. I'd recommend Quicksilver, Diamond, and Bismuth with a duplicate. This allows you get get around faster, boost your Crit Rate, and can allow you to swap into a Brass Dome if desired as Resistances are covered much better. If resistance are already covered, then Sulphur is a great damage boost, Gold works for Rarity, and Silver can improve cast peed as other possible options. Why not run Meta Skills? Witchtoads are the primary damage and count as triggred Spell, therefore they alone cannot build energy for CoC, CoA, or similar skills. Spellslinger can be used if that is the Wand base you prefer, but they're often the most expensive base. Animus Splinters might be worth considering for Non-Curse Skills. Why Stormweaver? Limit is just too good for this build honestly. We're not looking to spam the skill, so priority is on seting them up and letting the damage flow in. Each Limit gained adds an addtional Cursed Ground AND an extra Witchtoad per cursed Ground. The basic setup uses just Multiplying Squalls, allow for 4 instances of Cursed Ground with 6 toads each for a maximum of 24. A lot of our sustain also come from Mana/Kalguur Remnants, so making those more effective is also very nice. Do Other Ascendancies work? Yes, absolutely. Those in those cases the focus is on Cast Speed rather than Limit. Here's some possible benefits from Other Ascendnacies. Gemling - Alt Quality Despair reduces cost, can potentially make it free. Lich - Explode Ascendancy would work wonders for making it a one button build, as no extra skills for clear are really needed. Chrono - Free Echo/Cascade and Cast Speed/AoE are great offensively, mitigation great defensively. INCLUDED TREES LEVELING TREE Use what you prefer for Leveling honestly, you'll need to respec later regardless. The rough tree I used for Chronomancer Essence Drain + Contagion is provided, arguably the better option as it does minimize need to respec as much. If you want to Play Stormweaver all the way through, Spark + Orb of Storms works just fine too. ----------- DOEDRE SWAP TREE Around Level 70 it's finally to swap to Stormweaver and Doedre's Undoing. Swapping at third Ascendancy is ideal, granting us Multiplying Squalls for improved Limit and Storm's Recollection to sustain resources easier. Swaping to Ward-based gear also helps free up several passive points to make the transition easier. You can swap away from Ward later if desired, I have not found a need to yet, and the extra passives are great to have EVENT HORIZON MUST BE ON WEAPON SET 1 or it has a chance to kill you even with Ward up. Cursecarver is a very cheap +4 wand to use early on, just make sure you get the Elemental Weakness Vesion. it gets the job done just fine with little issues othe than limiting damage. A regular +4 wand and +2 Focus or +6 Staff are also sufficient to start with as well. Levels are the most important part of the gear. Darkness Enthroned (100%) with Shield Properties is recommended for Warding Rune of Stability, Effectively 80% of Ward as Stun Threshold, mitigates most stuns from skills that aren't near one-shots. These work as solid runes to fill the remaining socket: Warding Rune of Nourishment - 30% of Life Flask Recovery Applies to Runic Ward. Good recovery if you get low on both especially with Low Life Flask. Warding Rune of Protection - 40% of Max Runic Ward as Guard every 4 seconds, last 2 seconds. Nice protection from burst damage while its up Perfect Ele Runes - +44% Resistance of rune type Soul Core of Tacati - 22% Chaos Resistance Greater/Perfect Body Rune - +120/150 Maximum Life Perfect Robust Rune - +30 Strength and ~ 60 Life Soul Core of Ticaba - Hits against you have 40% reduced Critical Damage Bonus Perfect Charging Rune - 40% increased Regeneration Rate of Runic Ward (7%/sec) CRIT SWAP TREE The final transition is to swap toward crit scaling, which can be done at any time, but recommended for 80+ after obtaining Proper Weapons for the setup. I found a staff which works decently for this, but it's not ideal. This swaps much of our Spell Damage from the Tree towards Crit Chance and Crit Damage, instead opting to get the bulk of our damage increases from Weapons. Pure Chaos is annointed on Amulet here as well to free up passives. ------------------ Min-Max Gear Runic Ward can be hard to build up, so where we can we'll want to make use of Runic Alloys on our Jewellry and Soverign Alloys on the rest of our Armour. With proper bases alone, we can easily end up with around 1500+ Ward as a base. As for What bases to use... well, just about any Level 80 base will work just fine, if you play with attributes, you can mix and match as needed as they will not be providing much in terms of other defenses. Typically, Hybrid pieces work better. Armour / Energy Shield bases are often being the highest raw Runic Ward value before modifiers and quality. I personally recommend Arnmour / Energy Shield hybrids in particular, since Energy shield still adds to out overall Hit Pool and this gets the most runic ward. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Body Mini-craft For the abolslute most Runic Ward on a Body Armour, You'll want a Wolfskin Mantle with T1 Life, %Life, and % Runic Ward Prefixes. We can deterministically force these stats on thankfully. 1. Acquire a Rare Wolfskin Mantle with ONLY T1 Flat Life as a Prefix and terrible suffixes 3. Socket Astrid Creativity into an augment slot. 4. Use an Omen of Dextral Crystalisation + Perfect Body Essence for % Max Life 5. Use an Omen of Dextral Crystalisation + Soverign Alloy for % Runic Ward 6. Desecrate with Preserved Rib 7. Unveil for Resistances 7b. Omen of Abyssal Echoes Recommended, but not necessary. 7c. Damage Taken as Mana before Life is okay if the rest of your gear has Mana on it. 6. Slam on remaining Suffixes, for more Resistances hopefully. 7. Socket Warding Rune of Heart and Warding Rune of Reinforcement and you're done. 8. You can attempt to Annul or Whittle away terrible suffixes if desired, same applies to Omen of Light with Desecration Rolls. Crafting Ward Gear Other gear will follow a similar process, just without Astrid Creativity and the Perfect Body Essence. 1. Find Rare Item Base with a a desierable modifer. 1b. + Spell Levels for Amulet and Focus 1c. 35% Movement Speed for Boots. 1d. High Life or Mana with dead Affixes. 2. Exalt on Affixes as needed. 2b. Prefixes preferable for Amulet and Focus to preotect Spell Levels without Fracture. 2c. Suffixes preferable for most other items. 3. Use Crystalisztion Omens + Soverign Alloy (Runic Alloy for Rings and Amulet) to force on Runic Ward Prefixes. 3b. Dextral Crystalizstion for everthing but Amulet and Focus. 4. Desecrate to fill Prefix with the missing Modifier between High Life and Mana. 5. Slam Suffixes for Resistances. THE +10 THEORHETICAL WAND CRAFT The Theorhetical Wand in this PoB is exceptionally Expensive to craft, but can deterministically reach +10 without corruption. This is primarily expensive due to the cost of Aldur's Legacy FROM MAGIC ITEM 1. Acquire Exceptional Wand with +5 to Fire, Cold, OR Lightning Spells. 1b. Wand must be a Dueling Wand, Attuned Wand, or Siphoning Wand to roll both +5 Elemental Skills as well as the ability to roll Chaos Damage 2. Apply a Greater Essence of Seeking 3. Use Preserved Jawbone + Omen of Dextral Necromancy for full Suffixes. 3b. No need to Fracture! 3c. Ancient Jawbone can be used too, to guarnatee high tier mods, given the low chance to roll it though, would rack up costs quickly. 4. Exalt on a random Prefix, Cannot be Mana 4b. If Mana, Chaos + Sinistral Erasure until not Mana. 5. Apply Astrid's Creativity Rune to an Augment Socket. 6. Use Omen of Sinistral Crystallisation + Celestial Alloy for +1 Level and Mana 7. Perfect Exalt Slam uSing Omen of Greater Exaltation 7b. You can ONLY hit Damage Modifiers, as the Alloy takes the Mana Roll away 7c. Slam and pray for combination of High (T1/T2) Chaos Damage, Spell Damage, or Gain as Extra. 7d. Chaos + Spell is ideal, but any combo works really. 7e. Elemental Damage is a dead modifier, Hybrid Spell Damage + Mana is close to being dead and terrible alongside Gain as Exta Rolls. 8. Unveil and Omen of Light until hitting desired Modifier 8b. Crit Damage preferable, Cast Speed is nice too. 9.Socket Hedgewitch Rune (+1 All) and Legacy of Cursecarver (+3 Curse) and You're done! FROM RARE ITEM 1. Acquire Exceptional Wand 1b. Wand Cannot be Galvanic or Volatile, as it prevents Chaos Damage from rolling. 2. Annul to one Modifer 3. Chaos Spam to hit +5 Levels to All Cold, Fire, or Lighting Spells 4. Add a Prefix with an Exalted Orb + Omen of Sinistral Exaltation 4b. Affix doesn't matter here. 5. Use Omen of Sinistral Crystallisation + Perfect Essence of Alacrity for Mana Cost Reduction 5b. Runebinder's Alloy is a consideration, as paired with OverAbundance II, two Spell Cascaded casts will hit the new 6 limit. 6. Apply an Astrid's Creativity Rune to an Augment Socket 7. Use an Exalted Orb + Omen of Sinistral Exaltation again. Affix cannot be Mana 7b. If Mana, Chaos + Sinistral Erasure until not Mana. 8. Use Omen of Sinistral Crystallisation + Celestial Alloy for +1 Level and Mana 9. Use Preserved Jawbone + Omen of Dextral Necromancy for Full Suffixes 10. Use Perfect Exalted Orb + Omen of Greater Exaltation to fill Suffixes. (the only RNG Step that is hard to correct) 10b. Spell and Chaos Damage are Ideal. Damage as Extra is acceptable. 10c. Cold, Fire, Lightning, and Physical Spell Damage are dead mods. 11.Unveil Suffix with Omen of Abyssal Echoes for Critical Chance for Spells. 11b. If not Crit, Annul + Omen of Light and try again. 11c. Crit Damage is acceptable, depends on Jewels. 10.Socket Hedgewitch Rune (+1 All) and Legacy of Cursecarver (+3 Curse) and You're done! CORRUPTION Yup, this extremely expensive craft can be pushed to 11, Literally. If you get a lucky corrupt, you can end up with with another Level, ending with a +11 Wand. So long as it's Not Physical or Chaos Spells, it will work. If you get the extra Socket, There are still a couple great options to slot in. 1. Fenmus' Rune of Agony - Chaos As Extra 2. Greater/Perfect Iron Rune - Spell Damage 3. Greater/Perfect Vision Rune - Spell Crit Chance 4. Rune of Vitality - Extra Life/Stun Threshold WHY THE EXPENSIVE CRAFT? Simply put, with a Level 21 Corrupted Gem, this takes us to Level 31 instead from just the Wand. This means just 9 Levels are needed to cap out to the max level of 40. We get +1 from the Passive Tree, +1 from mastery Support, 2 from a Focus, and 3 from an Amulet already on top of this, leaving just just 2 to pick up elsewhere. We have a ton of options that allow this to have a lot of flexibility. Option 1: Two +1 Rings from Genesis Tree. Insanely Expensive, but no need to invest in the other options below. They can still be used to free up other slots if desired. Option 2: +2 Ele Weak Prism of Belief, not insanely espensive unless you want +3 instead. Option 3: +3 Ele Weak Prism of Belief, Expensive, but opens up the ability to free up a Support Gem Slot or the Weapon Set 1 Passive Points Allocated to Endless Blizzard. Option 4. +3 Curse Cultivated Vertex, suprisingly cheap, frees up the Mastery or Passives. Keeping Crit roll is ideal, keeping Chaos Res is nice. Getting Mana Cost Efficiency is super helpful. Option 5: +4 Curse Cultivated Vertex, less cheap, Frees up Mastery AND Pasives. Alternatively, Focus no longer requires +2, Palm of the Dreamer is a potential Option for Damage boost and can massively improve clear. Option 6. +5 Curse Cultivated Vertex, a little expensive. Frees up Focus Affix AND Mastery or passives.
