Build Philosophy I haven't played my favorite ailment builds in a while - ignite. Chieftain is much more tanky than Elementalist, with less damage. Chieftain, however, leverages its physical damage reduction with decent damage. It also is my most played ascendancy pog. This build utilizes the shift from phys to fire on gear, with a combination of the consistency of Endurance Charges, to pretty much tank all phys damage. Dawnbreaker is a two-fold synergy, as it does not only shift phys to fire and cold/ lightning to fire, but also supplies the only source of armour in the build, and a significant amount at that. With our phys damage taken solved, the logical step is to run the right side of the tree for immense spell supression and evasion. We run Grace, instead of Determination, and Immortal Call, instead of Molten Shell. 3.21 Changes The life mastery giving us 15% increased life on chest with no life modifiers allows us to sustain Cloak of Flame, which has 40% physical damage taken as fire. It's important to note that both Cloak of Flame and Dawnbreaker applies generic physical damage taken as fire - that means it applies to physical DoT, too. With the combination of high regen, it's possible to tank through physical degen. The suppress chance is lucky mastery allows us to run at least 67% Spell Supression (mathematically the most bang for your buck) and get as close as possible to supress cap. This makes gearing more flexible. When Reap was initially introduced, many wanted to play an ignite Reap build because of its high base damage but also its mutiplier to its base damage. Unfortunately, Reap ended up playing a lot more annoying with its hitbox but also it doesn't innately have a chance to ignite, which makes it more difficult to apply ignites. This is where Elementalist shines as it doesn't have this problem at all with Shaper of Flames. We can alleviate this with the Combustion gem, change to ignite on gear and Flammability. Vaal Reap introduced +4 to maximum Blood Charges, which also increases the damage further. If there was a time to try ignite Reap, it'll be this time. Levelling non-important active use Mule over Shattering Steel to your Marauder from Duelist.
