Notes
Level 1-12: Keep an eye out for magic/rare two handed axes (maces/staves are fine early as well), but even a normal can be an upgrade if a higher level requirement weapon, i.e. a Jade Chopper is better than a Stone Axe. The Loot Filter will highlight good early bases to pick up. Also be on the lookout for armour with the socket colours that we're looking for, which are: Red + Red + Red: Lets us use Ground Slam + Ruthless + Chance to Bleed. Can also use Momentum if you get a RRG. Pick up Blood and Sand after Breaking Some Eggs, and stay in Blood Stance for more dps. You can also get Frostblink, War Banner, and Precision from the vendor, though you only really need to run Frostblink for now. Buy a Lapis amulet from Nessa (if she's selling one) if you haven't found one yet, or grab an int node/just run dash. Red + Green: This is our Leap Slam + Faster Attacks setup, which we can run after killing Brutus, which rewards Leap Slam. We also get Intimidating Cry after Brutus; make sure you use it against bosses/difficult rares. We need mostly red sockets in general, so even items without links but with red sockets are worth equipping. Stats on armour doesn't matter much early, white armour with good sockets/links is better than magic and even rare armour. Try to avoid relying on your Weapon for links, since it'll get replaced more often than other pieces of gear, but sometimes you'll have no choice which is fine. Boots aren't as big a deal since we leap slam anyways, so not having Movement Speed on them isn't that bad for us (but still try to get MS on them). Make sure to check the vendor (Tarkeleigh for Act 1) for good socket links/ms boots, his inventory refreshes after every level up as well. If you copy and paste the following string into the search of a vendor's inventory, it will highlight items that may be worth buying: r-r-g|r-[rg]-r|g-r-r|nne Level 12-32: After getting the Cavern of Wrath waypoint, we can grab Sunder from Nessa as a quest reward. This will be the skill we use until maps, at which point you can swap to whatever skill you'd prefer (or just keep using Sunder). Initial links will be: Sunder + Ruthless + Chance to Bleed until we finish Sharp & Cruel in Act 2, at which point we can slot in Melee Physical Damage over Chance to Bleed. After finishing Intruders in Black Act 2 quest, pick up Herald of Ash, Pride, and Blood Rage. If you're running low on sockets, drop Blood and Sand. If you find a 4-link, there are a few supports that work well. Try to always have at least 2R for Sunder + Melee Physical Damage, and at most 1 Blue link. Best 3rd & 4th link supports are (in order): Close Combat / Ruthless / Maim / Concentrated Effect / Faster Attacks. For Bandits, you can either help Alira for the +15% elemental resistances or get the +1 skill point by killing all bandits. I recommend Alira for most builds to start, as res is nice earl After completing Lost in Love in Act 3, pickup Vulnerability. Only worth using on bosses typically. Level 33-70: After clearing Fallen from Grace in Act 6, you can buy Urgent Orders from Lily and link it with Intimidating Cry to make it less clunky to use. From this point on until the end of campaign, you're cruisin'. Level 70: Here you can respec to Dual Strike of Ambidexterity. It takes ~39 respec tpoints to do it, just make sure as you respec you also spec into nodes that connect where it makes sense to, so that you can save some respec points. For example, respec Destroyer, spec points into the duelist dex nodes, then respec the attack speed nodes. Same thing with the thick skin wheel. TIPS FOR SMOOTHER PROGRESSION: Keep your weapon up to date. You can use the vendor recipe to craft 50%+ increased physical damage on any weapon, which is good enough if you're unlucky with drops. The recipe is: Rare Rustic Sash + Blacksmith's Whetsone + Weapon (any rarity is fine, always make a magic weapon). Can also buy a high level base and rustic sash from vendor. Keep an essence around to make the rustic sash rare; don't use alchemy orbs. If you find any Essence of Contempts, use it on a good weapon base (one close to your level). General rule of thumb is to upgrade your weapon every 5-10 levels (depends on how good your weap is, and you wanna upgrade more often at low levels). Always be leap slammin'. After using leap slam, use frostblink to cover more distance.
