FAQ: Why Champion over Hiero? - 2x ehp/max hit, ~10% less damage (with same gear/setup) - Hiero doesn't have a 4th ascendancy - New shiny :3 Why not? - Needs to press a buton for Adrenaline every 20s - Occasionally needs to press ANOTHER button for enduring cry (when dry streak on enduring composure) - Really wants small armour cluster for reliable ECs - Leech mod on gloves can be a PITA to get day1/2 - Ailments can be a bit more cumbersome early on without Illuminated Devotion - no Lethe Shade (with 3-4k net recovery I personally don't really see how that's a problem) - Entropic Devastation is easier to make work on Hiero, plus the option to respec to Inquis for some cold convery action Leveling? - Take the "Physical Attack Damage" scenic route when starting, optionally Martial Experience+Destroyer, and yeet it towards scion (respec later with gold so keep some on hand) - Spectral Throw, Helix, Sunder, whatever floats your boat - Take the life mastery "Skills cost life instead of 15% of mana cost" and the physical mastery "40% increased physical damage with skills that cost life" for a quick power boost - Use the vendor recipe to upgrade your weapons: - Magic/rare/unique rustic sash + any rarity weapon + 1 Blacksmith's Whetstone = magic weapon with "x% increased physical damage'" - Slap on precision for much needed accuracy - Until level 28 where you can equip Reap (Will very likely feel worse, so you might wanna wait a bit (well, if you're the "optimal" type of guy, why the fuck are you playing phys DoT champion in 2025 xdd) - but don't forget to level Reap and Exsang in your offhand! (can only buy lv1 gems, CF you can buy lvled) - Would swap after lab at the earliest (if you wanna swap during campaign), because without adrenaline you won't really have any dmg passives - Spellslinger - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siWFhIAbpPo (scion, but will be similar) - Self-cast - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHROxQRQiDY (scion, but will be similar) - Don't overlevel your green support gems unnecessarily, attributes can be a pain - same for Faster Casting and Flame Dash (just needs to cost enough mana to proc Arcane Surge in 1 cast if you're using that) What order for my ascendancy? - Adrenaline - Fortify - Worthy Foe/Inspirational - Inspirational/Worthy Foe (Worthy Foe is more dmg, Inspirational gives you armour/regen from determ/vitality) How to proc adrenaline - Early game - press CF, optionally put CF+lifetap in your offhand and weapon swap for it - LL - press your life flask. If you feel like you're running out of charges, get reduced charges/increased charge recovery/charge on hit prefix instead. (or Profane Chemistry) - If it's not proccing, you are reserving too much life, lower your Vitality levels (you need to have unreserved life > recoverable, so that you can use a flask to go above low life) Why Arsonist? - Good early regen, especially during campaign. 1.2% life regen + ~100 flat for 4 points. There's not really good regen nodes around except for Hearty Enlighten? - Gives access to Arcane Surge - Can drop it, but then you need to lifetap everything, you lose Arcane Surge (20% cast speed), and you're down a socket anyway. - Optionally, just get the 12% RMR mana mastery for 3p (Dynamo, so you get a sweet 40% duration on molten shell as well) Skill Duration? - If it feels bad, you can grab an increased skill duration wheel (3-4 points + 1p mastery if you want even more) I don't like shields - Unlike Hiero, we can likely afford to toss the shield, and use double wands/CIP. Tempest Shield is replaced hy Herald of Purity (dmg) or Arctic Armour (defense, freeze immun) Corrupting Fever - Shares space with Reap, no space for a standalone. For bossing it's better to take it off in favor of a dmg link for reap (and no danger of killing yourself pressing it in the middle of combat xdd) Suppression - You can pick extra point or 2 around Reflexes if you're a bit short. - Entrench is a very cheap annoint for +12% suppress - small suppression cluster (unlikely you have a good large cluster without getting 40% suppress from 5 pieces of gear to fit this and enduring composure) - If you include these ^^, you get around ~60% just from the tree, which should make capping it very easy Cast speed feels bad - Can link ^x7070FFFaster Casting^7 to ^xE05030Reap^7 until you get enough cast speed on rings, jewels or amulet - Optional, drop^xE05030 Exsan^7 for^x7070FF Kinetic Blast^7 + ^x70FF70GMP^7 +^x70FF70 Pierce^7 +^xE05030 Lifetap^7, and just apply CB When do I make the swap to ^xE05030low life^7? - Get some kind of ^xC8C8C8bleed^7 immunity and mitigate ^xB97123ignites^7 and ^xD02090poison^7 atleast a little bit (High ^xB97123fire^7 and ^xD02090chaos^7 resistance is preferable but Soul of Abberath is okay) - Have the Eater glove implicit, Physical damage leeched as life. - 1k+ net regen What are some other options for mitigating ailments? - Fortification mastery for a total of 52% reduced ailment duration (ALL ailments, not just elemental, so includes bleed and poison (not CB tho, sadge)) - Combined with Anointed Flesh wheel (and travel nodes) you can get 100% for chill+freeze/ignite/shock - Protection Mastery - Damaging/non-damaging ailment cannot be inflicted if you already have one - Pantheons are the low cost easy choice since they are always on and are simple to change Spell suppression item level breakpoints: Helmets, Gloves, and Boots - 68 76 85 Body armours, and Shields - 67 77 86
